چکیده

This paper deals with the composition of multi-member decision making bodies (committees) on the basis of fuzzy individual preference relations over candidates. The methods discussed are basically extensions of the principles of optimal representation as spelled out by Chamberlin and Courant. Since these principles are defined for nonfuzzy individual preference rankings, we focus primarily on the essential ambiguity in determining the degree of representation associated with each possible committee when the individual preferences are fuzzy. Once this ambiguity is solved, the composition of an optimal committee is relatively straightforward.

Metasets and Opinion Mining in New Decision Support System

The paper is devoted to the problem of modeling human attitudes towards imprecise ideas. A metaset is used for representing an imprecise concept and Opinion Mining techniques are applied to build a preference function which reflects someone’s attitude towards the idea. The preferences are then evaluated as real numbers for the sake of comparison and selection of the best matching instance. The ...

Independence in Generalized Interval Probability

Recently we proposed a new form of imprecise probability based on the generalized interval, where the probabilistic calculus structure resembles the traditional one in the precise probability because of the Kaucher arithmetic. In this paper, we study the independence properties of the generalized interval probability. It resembles the stochastic independence with proper and improper intervals a...

A fuzzy group-preferences analysis method for new-product development

This paper reports a new idea-screening method for new product development (NPD) with a group of decision makers having imprecise, inconsistent and uncertain preferences. The traditional NPD analysis method determines the solution using the membership function of fuzzy sets which cannot treat negative evidence. The advantage of vague sets, with the capability of representing negative evidence, ...

Aggregation of expert opinions and uncertainty theories

The problem of expert opinions representation and aggregation has long been adressed in the only framework of probability theory. Nevertheless, recent years have witnessed many proposals in other uncertainty theories (possibility theory, evidence theory, imprecise probabilities). This paper casts the problem of aggregating expert opinions in a common underlying framework and shows how uncertain...

Representation of Fragmentary Multilayered Knowledge

Formalization presupposes ‘precisification’. A formal representation, therefore, cannot account for all relevant aspects of imprecise domain knowledge. In this paper we present a methodology for dealing with this problem. In an imprecise domain, part of the expertise is to know the realm within which knowledge may be faithfully specialized. In a computer reasoning system, such expert knowledge ...
